- Prostitution was banned and education was encouraged.
- A once called patchwork of educational facilities in Japan was rapidly regenerated and expanded into one of the world's best school systems.

-"Moral" training was instituted in primary and secondary schools. Its two great principles were filial faithfulness and absolute loyalty to the emperor.
Meiji Professor
-The Japanese were very eager to learn from the Westerners, during the Meiji Restoration some Japanese went to Western countries to learn and become educated. They then brought back their new found knowledge to teach it to the Japanese back in Japan.
